Ercros selected by the UN among the 101 best business initiatives for climate
The United Nations Global Compact has selected Ercros for having one of the 101 best business initiatives to contribute to the fight against climate change, after having included the company in its dossier of good practices in sustainable development goals (SDG). These 101 business initiatives will be presented on December 5 in the framework of the Climate Summit (COP 25) being held in Madrid.
Ercros' initiative is reflected in the 11% reduction in its direct greenhouse gas emissions in 2018 compared to the previous year, while the total emissions index has been reduced by 15.5%, if we carry out the calculation in homogeneous terms towards 2017.
This initiative is part of the sustainability management system applied. Ercros quantifies its emissions every year in order to reduce them and minimize their impact. It also applies ISO 14064 on quantification and declaration of greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition, the company's factories carry out a number of actions with the objective of contributing to the fight against climate change, including the replacement of fuels by others with lower greenhouse gas emissions; control of leaks in refrigerant equipment; and the consumption of hydrogen generated in electrolytic processes as fuel for boilers.
Ercros is voluntarily adhered to the Responsible Care program and the Global Compact program promoted by the UN (with an Advanced classification).
