Students from the Corona de Aragón centre visit Sabiñánigo

Sabiñánigo,

Two groups of 44 students and three professors from higher-level training cycles in industrial chemistry; in chemistry and environmental health, and in the analysis and laboratory quality control of the Corona de Aragón vocational training centre in Zaragoza, visited the Ercros factory in Sabiñánigo on March 24 and 30, respectively.

Ercros technical staff have informed them about the company and its production activity, about the operation of the Sabiñánigo factory and about its environmental management. Later, the groups visited the sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide plants, the wastewater treatment plant, and the general laboratory.

The visits have had a very positive assessment by teachers and students; both have highlighted the importance of this first contact with an industrial plant.

The Ercros centre in Sabiñánigo, which has been in existence for more than a century, is part of the chlorine derivatives division and is the leading European producer of tablets for swimming pool water treatment. There, 12 products grouped into four lines are manufactured: chlorine- caustic soda-potash; chloroisocyanurates; chlorates and chlorites; and hydrogen peroxide and ammonia.
