The General Secretary of Industry visits the Ercros factory in Tortosa

Tortosa,

The General Secretary of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Raül Blanco, visited today the Ercros factory in Tortosa, a production center that in recent months has carried out important investments in order to expand its production capacity and improve energy efficiency.

The Secretary General of Industry has taken a tour of the factory's facilities, where more than 100 people work, accompanied by Joan Sabaté, Deputy Government Delegate in Tarragona; Jaume Reig, director of the Ercros intermediate chemistry division, to which the Tortosa center belongs; Enric Montserrat, industrial director of the division; Santiago Rodríguez, director of the factory; and Teresa Camarasa, R&D manager of the division.

The investments carried out in the Ercros factory in Tortosa have enabled an expansion of its polyol production capacity with the aim of meeting the growing demand that this family of products has on the market and introducing improvements in the energy efficiency of the plant. The polyols manufactured in Tortosa are pentaerythritol and dipentaerythritol, which are used to manufacture paints and varnishes, high-performance synthetic lubricants and printing inks; and sodium formate, which is used as an antifreeze in airports and in the leather tanning industry.

During his visit to the Terres de l'Ebre, the Secretary General of Industry also participated in the inauguration of the VII Employment Forum of the Rovira i Virgili University; meeting in which Ercros also participated, together with other companies and institutions, representatives of the economic and business fabric of the regions of southern Catalonia.
