What is it used for?

Vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is the intermediate product for manufacturing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins through a polymerisation process.

Ercros produces vinyl chloride from dichlorethane (EDC), part of which is manufactured in the same plant as VCM.

VCM is used as a precursor of PVC
VCM is used as a precursor of PVC.

Did you know that...

VCM is also known as chloroethene, chloroethylene and ethylene monochloride.

It is not found in nature and was first manufactured in Germany in 1835.
