Almussafes reduces its emissions rate by 49%

The Ercros factory in Almussafes reduced its emissions rate by 49% – which measures the substances emitted into the air and water and the waste generated – in 2018 compared to the previous year. This figure, which reflects Ercros' commitment to the environment at its facilities, improved by 55% compared to the average for the last five years.

In Ercros as a whole, the rate of direct greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 11%, while the rate of total emissions has been reduced by 15.5% in homogeneous terms compared to 2017.

The Valencian center, where 105 people currently work, also presents good results in terms of the quality of its products: in 2018, the quality index – which measures the number of tons of products affected by customer complaints about the number of tons sold – improved by 22% compared to 2017. A figure that also improved by 17% compared to the average of the last five years.

The Almussafes factory has approved its environmental management system according to the ISO 14001:2015 standard; quality according to ISO 9001:2015; and prevention according to the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard.

This center belongs to the Ercros intermediate chemistry division and is the world's leading producer of paraformaldehyde, a compound that is used in the synthesis of other chemical products to be applied in very diverse industrial sectors, such as the automotive industry, the oil industry , that of paintings, furniture, textiles, paper or pharmaceuticals. This center also manufactures resins for the furniture and insulating industry, among which the new ErcrosGreen+ range stands out. This new line of resins has been designed to comply with the strictest standards and recommendations in the construction sector in Europe, the United States and Japan, and reflects Ercros' permanent commitment to innovation.
