Enric Montserrat, director of the intermediate chemicals division of Ercros, has participated in a discussion panel on the advantages and challenges presented by the global implementation of methanol with a low carbon footprint. The panel, which was attended by world experts in the field, was held within the framework of the Argus Methanol Forum in Houston (Texas).

In her speech, Montserrat has opted for methanol with low carbon emissions and has assured that "if we want to move towards decarbonisation, a transition period will be inevitable until we consume exclusively green methanol".

Likewise, the director of the intermediate chemicals division of Ercros has stated that the challenge of decarbonising the industry should be a global objective, not just a commitment of the European industry.

Ercros is the largest buyer of methanol from the Mediterranean arc and uses it to manufacture formaldehyde. Methanol is a product with multiple applications that, in addition to its use to manufacture formaldehyde, is used in the production of fuels, olefins, antifreeze acetic acid for vehicles or as a solvent.
