Almussafes factory exports 97% of the paraformaldehyde it produces
Formaldehyde is the core product of the Almussafes plant (Valencia), from which it produces paraformaldehyde and resins, mainly used in the furniture, automotive, oil, paint, textile, paper and pharmaceutical sectors.
The Almussafes centre is the world's leading producer of paraformaldehyde, 97% of which is exported worldwide. The new ErcrosGreen+ and ErcrosTech resin ranges are also manufactured in Almussafes.
The factory has a workforce of around 110 people.
The centre has formaldehyde and paraformaldehyde production plants and resin reactors, which operate using proprietary patented technology. The overall production capacity is 840,000 t/year.
The Almussafes plant is part of Ercros' intermediate chemicals division and has been operating since 1969.

A bit of history
The Almussafes factory began its activity under the ownership of Formol y Derivados, S.A., later Fydsa, within the Derivados Forestales, S.A. group. It was based on the production of formaldehyde and resins, used to supply the wood and furniture industries in the area.
Start of paraformaldehyde production using a proprietary patented process.
The holding Derivados Forestales Group XXI S.L. is constituted, into which the Almussafes factory is integrated together with the Tortosa and Cerdanyola factories.
With the acquisition of the Derivados Forestales group by Ercros, the Almussafes factory is integrated into the intermediate chemicals division.
Start of the industrial production of the ErcrosGreen+ range of resins, developed by the R&D department of the intermediate chemicals division.
