Climate change
Our efforts to combat climate change, an example according to the UN
2025 target: 39% emissions reduction
Ercros is aligned with the objectives of decarbonisation and the fight against the climate emergency adopted by the EU and with the climate action commitments of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
To make progress in the fight against climate change, we have launched the 3D Plan. We hope that, once the first phase of this plan has been completed in 2025, the direct CO2 emissions generated by our industrial activity will be reduced by 39% compared to 2020 emissions. In 2050 we expect to achieve neutrality of these emissions.
Other targets for 2030 are:
- Reduce energy consumption by 20%;
- To achieve that 1% of consumption is produced from renewable energies generated in Ercros' own facilities;
- To achieve that 70% of electricity consumed comes from renewable sources; and
- Reduce water consumption by 30%.
The 3D Plan: focused on decarbonisation
The decarbonisation of our activity is one of the three pillars on which the current strategic plan, Plan 3D, for the period 2021-2029 is based.
The 3D Plan includes several actions to combat climate change in the areas of energy efficiency, maximising the use of hydrogen, circular economy and sustainable mobility. The budget allocated to carry out these actions is 31.4 million euros.

A business example for the climate
The UN Global Compact programme has twice selected Ercros among the 101 best business initiatives for contributing to the fight against climate change and for its efforts and commitment to address the climate emergency.
For the actions planned to achieve emission neutrality.
For its progressive reduction of C02 emissions.
We contribute to achieving the SDGs related to the fight against climate emergency
Voluntary agreements
Ercros has undertaken external commitments to implement specific best practices to mitigate the climate emergency.
